Abstract
Die vertaler van die groot meesterwerke van die w~reldliteratuur verrig 'n baie belangrike taak. Sommige mense is egter geneig om vertaalwerk nie na waarde te skat nie. Vertalings word nie as "navorsing" gereken nie en kwalifiseer ook nie vir subsidie nie. Maar vertaling vereis 'n indringende interpretasie van die oorspronklike teks en die vertaler lewer 'n waardevolle bydrae om sy eie taalgebied te verryk.
