Abstract
Veranderende omstandighede in die afgelope aantal jare het dit waarskynlik gemaak dat die aantal studente in Latyn en Grieks aan Suid-Afrikaanse universiteite nog verder sal afneem. Na lang onsekerheid word daar nou duidelik deur die wet bepaal dat studente in die regte slegs Matrikulasie-Latyn of 'n eenjarige geakkrediteerde kursus in Latyn aan 'n universiteit hoef aan te bied, en die meeste universiteite sal waarskynlik nie meer as hierdie minimum vereis nie. Wat Grieks betref, vereis die Afrikaanse Gereformeerde kerke nog steeds van teologiese studente 'n tweejarige kursus in Grieks, maar van tyd tot tyd word vir 'n vermindering van hierdie vereiste geagiteer. Die betrokke fakulteite streef tans daarna om ook vir ander denominasies · meer toeganldik te wees. Aangesien laasgenoemde meestal nie soveel Grieks verlang nie, is daar 'n wesenlike gevaar dat die vereistes vir aile studente verminder sal word.Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:
